The Hummingbird Team

Co-founder
Dawn Wong
For Singaporean vocalist Dawn Wong, music is a vessel for exploration – one she has captained from pop to jazz, and now on to her latest adventure in Hakka (dialect) music.
The Jazz Association (Singapore) scholar and mother-of-2 writes, produces, and performs ‘Jazz for Kids’ and other educational programmes to take young audiences on this journey too, with the hope of colouring their musical palettes and opening their eyes to the world around us.

Dawn has performed at the Kuching Waterfront International Jazz Festival, Thailand International Jazz Festival, the Singapore International Jazz Festival, and more. She fronts contemporary Mandarin jazz band Akehao, the 1930s-style Shanghai Jazz Club and is a member of the Char Yong (Dabu) Association Hakka Singing Group.
Dawn topped her class at LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore) and has taught as an adjunct tutor at her alma mater.

Co-founder
Felix Phang
National Arts Council Scholar Felix Phang is a Singaporean musician, composer, and educator known for his innovative fusion of traditional Asian and contemporary Western sounds. His multicultural music group The Straits Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Istana and with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, with whom they played Felix's commissioned piece.

Trained in classical violin and trombone, he later pursued Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music, where he also began playing double bass. Returning to Singapore in 2008, he formed diverse musical projects, including gypsy jazz trio The Lost Tribe, the 1930s-inspired Shanghai Jazz Club, and world music group Qilin Group, performing internationally at major festivals.

Formerly Head of the Music & Drama Company, Felix is also the founder of arts nonprofit Pasat Merdu, and holds an adjunct position at LASALLE College of the Arts.
